CAHEC received a Lupus Initiative grant from the American College of Rheumatology. The project goal of the Lupus Education Small Group Provider Sessions are to: 1) Raise awareness among providers for signs and symptoms of lupus, what to do if lupus is suspected and when to elevate lupus in the differential diagnosis when presented with individuals in groups at high risk for lupus. 2) Build connections between providers and a geographically accessible rheumatologist in areas and communities in which patients are under-served by rheumatologist. Rheumatologists from the University of Colorado Health at the Medical Center of the Rockies will present a lupus education program to medical providers in northeastern Colorado. An individual with lupus will also present his/her diagnosis and treatment story.
