The mission of the Centennial Area Health Education Center is to address health workforce shortages and health disparities in the CAHEC region, through education and collaboration.
CAHEC for Students & Schools
The Centennial Area Health Education Center develops pipeline and support programs to enhance and grow the healthcare workforce. The CAHEC office develops programs for target audiences ranging from kindergarten to healthcare students and professionals.
The Great Hospital Adventure is one of our interactive programs that teaches elementary students about healthcare careers and engages them using a puppet show. Our annualNurse Exploration Day, hosted both at University of Northern Colorado and Front Range Community College, teaches high school students about the respective colleges' Nursing programs, and what it is like to be a student in the program. Students used simulation equipment in 2013 to deliver a baby.
CAHEC also collaborates with Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) on programs and events for high school audiences. Throughout the year, CAHEC supports Career Fairs across our 10-county region. Through our Student Housing Program students enrolled at the University of Colorado Denver Anchutz Medical Campus, Regis, and Red Rocks during their clinical rotations are matched with host homes in our rural Northeastern Colorado communities.
