Continuing
Education for Health Care Professionals
Watch for upcoming programs for nurse and rehab professionals
In order to provide the public with continually improved health care, virtually all health care professions
require their practitioners to broaden their knowledge by taking continuing education (CE) courses each year.
CAHEC is a leading provider of CE courses for:
Registered Nurses (RN)
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN)
Occupational Therapists (OT)
Physical Therapists (PT)
Psychologists
Social Workers and Counselors
throughout the 10 counties it serves. Among the professional organizations which recognize it as a certified
provider of CE courses are:
During 2009 more than 400 individuals earned CE credits through 12 courses. This does not include the
Nurse Educator Conference reviewed separately on this web site.
Conference Planning & Coordination
In many cases, CAHEC develops and presents its own courses. In other instances, it is retained as a consultant
and partner by third party organizations that wish to sponsor course topics for which they want attendees to
earn CE credits under CAHEC’s auspices. In these instances, CAHEC reviews the curriculum to be certain it meets
CE requirements and then monitors the courses and submits attendee records for credits.
CAHEC staff can provide complete conference planning services for partners to include, but not limited to:
develop course content
secure speakers
secure facility
produce program brochure & materials
market the program
registration
evaluation
CAHEC believes this partnership experience can be of great value to still more groups that have expertise in key
health care topics plus funding for education but do not have the ability to produce their own approved courses.
One example is the 31st Annual Fall Institute 2009 – “Optimizing Health and Wellness”, held in September, 2009.
This CE conference for advanced practice clinical nurse specialists was co-sponsored by CAHEC and the
Colorado Society for Clinical Specialists in Psychiatric Nursing.
ITV (Interactive Television)
CAHEC also has access to the University of Colorado Denver Health Sciences Center ITV System, which is a closed
circuit, interactive, television network serving select Northern Colorado communities. This network carries a
variety of programs but is utilized by CAHEC to distribute both informational as well as approved interactive
CE courses which can more conveniently be attended by health care professionals throughout the state.
As another means of capitalizing on interactive television education, CAHEC maintains a special classroom in
its Greeley offices equipped to receive weekly, semester-long, interactive television CE courses produced by
the University of Colorado School of Nursing. This is one of five
such sites in Northern Colorado where nurses can attend these courses.
