Colorado
Trust Scholarship Program
A very important CAHEC activity is administering the Health Professions Scholarship program
sponsored by The Colorado Trust Foundation.
The goal of this program is to provide financial support to students pursuing a Master’s level
program in health care in return for their commitment to practice in a rural or underserved
community for a minimum of two years upon graduation. Target groups include students enrolled in graduate level:
Allied Health
Dental
Medical
Nursing
Pharmacy
Public Health
CAHEC solicits and reviews scholarship applications and designates who will receive these
two-year scholarships valued at $15,000 each which is sufficient to pay for a significant
portion of the recipients’ education costs. In 2009, CAHEC received 90 applications and awarded
20 scholarships.
CONGRATULATIONS to the 2009 CAHEC Health Professions Scholarship recipients:
Casey Beardsley (Brighton), Physician Assistant
Esther Beckett (Frederick), School of Nursing (Ph.D.)
Nicole Hood (Hugo), School of Dentistry
CAHEC also maintains an online directory of other scholarships that are available to high school
graduates planning to enter the health care field as well as students studying a health care
profession. CLICK HERE for the free online scholarship manual.
