Sally’s spent most of her life on the east coast and just came to Colorado in 2005. This is the first time she’s lived away from water and it’s a bit of a struggle for her. A nurse by background, she has over 30 years experience in healthcare education including leading AHECs in New Jersey and Oregon. Sally has 2 grown sons: Russ, who lives back east with her 2 grandchildren, Sarah and Azie, and Curtis in Denver. She lives in Loveland with 2 dogs and a small parrot (the dogs are welcoming, but Zeus guards his turf fiercely!) Current dogs are a 13 year old lab-mix named Sassafras and Shadow, a 6 year old Golden Retriever who just joined the family—and loves to come to work!

Emily Jo spent most of her life in the south before moving west. Her master’s degree in nursing science, with a clinical specialty in mental health/psychiatric nursing and a nursing education track completion, is from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Her professional background includes administration and clinical practice in acute care and administration and faculty in higher education. She joined CAHEC in 2007.

Denise Denton, MA

Denise has worked in the rural health arena for 25 years at the local, state, and national levels - focusing on workforce, community development, and the needs of the medically underserved. She founded and served as the Executive Director of the Colorado Rural Health Center for fifteen years, helping create one of the most respected Offices of Rural Health in the country.
At a national level, Denise served on National Health Service Corps Advisory Council; on the board and as Treasurer of the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health; and on the board of the National Rural Health Association - and as the President in 1992. Denise also served on First Lady Clinton’s National Health Task Force chairing committees on Health Workforce Development and Rural and Frontier Access.
Denise is coordinating The Colorado Trust’s Healthcare Advocacy and Partnership for Health Initiatives, identifying and developing new initiatives and serves as a professional liaison to regional healthcare agencies and organizations.

Donna has been with CAHEC for 14 years and is a former Radiologic Technician. Prior to CAHEC, she served as Interim Executive Director of Presbyterian Highlands Camp and owned a ranch in Yuma with her husband of 50 years! She is a Commissioned Lay Pastor in the Presbyterian Church and very active in sporting events, dance, and poms with her 6 grandchildren. In her (very little) spare time, she enjoys reading.

Jim has been with CAHEC since January of 1996 as the Electronic Information specialist. He developed the first website for CAHEC and has taken care of many of the information needs of the organization. Jim has an Associate of Arts Degree from Aims Community College as well as a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point.

Erika has been an EMT for over 12 years, has a Bachelors degree in Biology, and is currently pursuing a nursing degree. She has been with CAHEC since 2006 working as a Health Educator for the Plains Partnership for Health, which focuses on nutrition education and physical activity.

Letha coordinates the Cooking Co-Op program for the Plains Partnership for Health. She is the wife of a pastor in a rural community and enjoys craft work such as stained glass, angel pins, decorating sweatshirts, and seasonal wreaths.
